Erica Green has been an educator for over a decade with an undergraduate Education degree from the University of Maryland College Park as well as a Masters in Education  from Walden University. Elected to serve Ward 8 as an Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner in 2022, Erica is thrilled to be appointed to the Commission on Climate Change and Resiliency. Bringing awareness to the need to preserve and create green space in the District, Erica is working on environmental education projects as the founder of Science in Our Parks, a free outdoor learning program, with District of Columbia Public Schools, Casey Trees, Friends of Oxon Run Park, and the Chesapeake Bay Trust. Erica has been awarded multiple RiverSmart Schools awards as part of her efforts to build school gardens in DC and is working on a community garden at the corner of Malcolm X and MLK, Jr. Aves. in Congress Heights where she distributes weekly Sunday meals to District residents and is serving as a community engagement partner to the Department of Corrections’ Ward 8 READY Center.
