Uwe S. Brandes serves as chair of the Commission. He is professor of practice at Georgetown University and faculty director of the masters program in Urban & Regional Planning and the university-wide Georgetown Global Cities Initiative.
Brandes is a scholar-practitioner with over 25 years’ experience in the planning, design, and development of new buildings, neighborhoods, infrastructure and parks. He advises cities around the world on their sustainable development strategies and the stakeholder partnerships necessary to achieve their goals. Brandes holds a Master of Architecture from Harvard University and A.B. in Engineering Science from Dartmouth College.
